All your burning questions answered

General

Find the most frequently asked questions below.
  • Bone broth is made by simmering or pressure-extracting animal bones (and often meat) for extended periods. The process extracts collagen, protein, minerals, and amino acids into a nutrient-dense liquid. Spring's method involves roasting bones first, then pressure extracting for maximum flavour and nutrition.

  • Three things:

    (1) We roast bones before extracting, creating deep, rich flavour competitors don't achieve.

    (2) We pressure extract instead of just simmering – maximising nutrition and concentration.

    (3) Maintain concentration. What's extracted goes straight into the bottle. Result: 5.4g protein per 100g, against 2.4g to 3.4g for the leading alternatives.

  • Two ways:

    (1) Heat gently in a pan or microwave (90 seconds) and drink as a warm beverage.

    (2) Use as a base for cooking – soups, risottos, sauces, braising, deglazing pans.

  • Yes. Spring is whole food – Just bones, vegetables, herbs. Many customers drink 250ml daily as part of their morning, midday, or evening ritual.

  • Store chilled. Every bottle carries a use-by date on the cap and will have a minimum of 56 days' shelf life. Once opened, bone broth keeps for 10 days and soup for 3 days.

Don't freeze in the glass bottle: decant first if you want to freeze.

  • Yes. Just don't freeze it in the glass bottles, decant into freezer-proof containers first, like ice-cube trays or zip-seal freezer bags.

Nutrition

  • Our Blonde Chicken has 5.4g of protein per 100g (or 13.5g per 250ml bottle). This is the highest protein content in the UK bone broth category, more than double most competitors.

  • Yes. Collagen from bones breaks down during cooking into gelatin and amino acids (glycine, proline, hydroxyproline) that your body can absorb. Spring is collagen-rich due to our extended pressure extraction process.

  • Potential benefits include:

    • Gut health: Glycine and glutamine support gut lining integrity
    • Joint support: Collagen, glucosamine, chondroitin from cartilage
    • Skin, hair, nails: Collagen building blocks
    • Protein: Easy-to-digest complete protein
    • Minerals: Bioavailable calcium, magnesium, phosphorus

Note: These are potential benefits based on bone broth's nutrient profile. Individual results vary.

  • Yes for: Paleo, Keto, Low-Carb, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Whole30

No added: Salt, sugar, gluten, dairy

    Contains: Meat (beef or chicken)

  • Approximately 30-50 kcal per 100ml (varies by flavour). Low-calorie, high-protein, nutrient-dense.

  • What minerals are in Spring?

Spring is naturally rich in magnesium, and also provides calcium and vitamin B12, drawn straight from roasted bones and vegetables during pressure extraction. Everything is bioavailable and easily absorbed. Amounts vary by flavour, per 250ml serving:

    Magnesium: Thai 133mg (35% of your daily needs), Blonde 120mg (32%), Beef 88mg (23%).

    Calcium: Beef 144mg (18%), Blonde 105mg (13%), Thai 99mg (12%).

Vitamin B12: Thai 0.80µg (32%), Blonde 0.55µg (22%). Our Beef broth contains only a trace.

Benefits: Bone density, muscle function, nervous system, sleep quality.

    Are the minerals added?
No. Everything is naturally occurring and extracted from the ingredients, nothing is added or fortified. We add apple cider vinegar to boost extraction.

    GLYCINE & GLUTAMINE

    Glycine: Supports digestion, sleep, detoxification.

Glutamine: Fuel for gut lining, crucial for gut barrier integrity.

Benefits: Gut health, immune function, inflammation reduction.
